Salon Shakespeare with Max Hansen Kitchen and New Place Players

"If music be the food of love, play on..."

Chef Max Hansen and New Place Players’ artistic director (and Bucks County native!), Craig Bacon, collaborated to create an unforgettable intimate dinner party for twenty guests at Casa Duse, the former home of the late Martin Waldron, a noted actor, voice teacher, and godson of Eleonora Duse. Built in 1896 on Prospect Park West, the elegant parlor townhouse is rich in theater history and memorabilia.

The evening featured a full company Shakespeare production of the Twelfth Night and a five course tasting menu with wine pairings, inspired by the world of Twelfth Night.

Guests sit down to a feast inspired by Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.

Act I

Viola's Seared Scallop with Le Puy Lentils, Smoked Bacon and a Rich Horseradish Jus

Low arrangements of roses add a touch of elegance to the table.

Act II

Maria's Puree of Cauliflower Soup with Prosciutto and Black Truffles

Act III

Sir Toby's Roasted Venison Chops with a Poivrade Sauce served with a Roasted Parsnip and Yukon Gold Puree and sautéed “Comeback Farm” Winter Greens

Act IV

Aguecheek's Blue Moon Acres Organic Arugula with a Crispy Goat Cheese and Potato Cake,Aged Balsamic Vinegar, EVOO and Sea Salt

Casa Duse provided the set for the play and the dining room for the Twelfth Night inspired feast cooked by Max Hansen Caterer of Bucks County, PA.

Director (and oenophile) Craig Bacon and Max Hansen made sure that wines were expertly paired for each course.
